Prerequisite: FLG 202 or equivalent.
This course will be taught in conjunction with HIS 327-01. Students enrolled in HIS 327-01 will read German texts in translation while students enrolled in FLG 316-01 will be reading texts in the original German. Students will not receive credit for both courses in the same semester.

Necessary vocabulary, elementary structures, and oral and written practice. Training in the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Laboratory included.
Review of basic structures and vocabulary. Emphasis on further development of the four language skills through oral and written practice and readings in literature, culture, and modern life.
Topics of special interest which may vary each time course is offered. Topic stated in current Schedule of Classes. May be repeated under a different topic for maximum of 9 hrs. credit.
Critical analysis of different forms, movements, and themes in fiction, drama, essay, and poetry of German-speaking lands.
Supervised work study in community service activities involving use of the foreign language. Pass/Fail.
Independent study and research in a specific field of German language or phase of literary production. May be repeated for maximum of 6 hrs. credit.
This course meets a General Education requirement.
