Trains ability to think critically and write persuasively; logical and emotional appeals in writing.
For engineering and science students: techniques of exposition and report writing.
Principal types of business letters and reports.
Intensive study of issues, movements, or themes characteristic of the period.
Study of the cultural traditions of Asia through selected literary classics.
Supervised writing projects in conjunction with student service, volunteer, or work activities. Pass/Fail.
Independent study and research in a specific field of English language or phase of literary production. May be repeated for a maximum of 6 hrs. credit.
Study and practice of the writing conventions and rhetorical characteristics of individual professions.
Independent research in literature, writing, or theory.
