This course will be taught in conjunction with HIS 316-01. Students enrolled in HIS 316 will have additional requirements beyond AAS 200, commensurate with the 300 level course designation. Students will not receive credit for both courses in the same semester.

The history of African Americans from their departure from Africa to their arrival in the Caribbean, South America, and North America and up to the present organized chronologically with emphasis on the ideas of black social thought, political protest, and efforts to initiate social change.
This course meets a General Education requirement.
